(whether in the body, I know not; or whether out of the body, I know not; God knoweth), such a
one caught up even to the third heaven. And I know such a man (whether in the body, or apart from
the body, I know not; God knoweth), how that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable
words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.' The Apostle John also writes: 'Beloved, 1
now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he
shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is.' In the Epistle to
the Hebrews we read: 'Ye 2 are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels, to the general assembly and church of
the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just
men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that
speaketh better than that of Abel.' In the last book of the New Testament, the Book of Revelation, a
wonderfully beautiful figurative description is given of the happiness and felicity of the redeemed.
It is thus written: 'These 3 are they which come out of the great tribulation, and they
washed their robes, and made them white in. the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the
throne of God; and they serve him day and night in his temple: and he

that sitteth on the throne shall spread his tabernacle over them. They shall hunger no
more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun strike upon them, nor any heat: for the Lamb
which is in the midst of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them unto fountains of
waters of life: and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.' 'And 1 I heard a
great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell
with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God: and
he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be
mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away. And he that sitteth on
the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.' 'And 2 there shall be no curse any more:
and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be therein and his servants shall do him service; and
they shall see his face; and his name shall be on their foreheads. And there shall be night no more;
and they need no light of lamp, neither light of sun; for the Lord God shall give them light: and
they shall reign for ever and ever.'
Even the very bodies of the redeemed shall share in the holiness and bliss of immortality. For,
on the resurrection day, the Lord Jesus Christ will raise from the tomb the bodies of His true and
