When Muhammad saw Hamzah's body mutilated, it was said he wanted to mutilate 30 Quraysh dead as retaliation. an-Nahl 16:126 is supposed to be an injunction against that.
It is thus not an intrinsic quality of Muhammad.

• those slandered should provide charity for the "erring ones", an-Nur 24:22
