* al-An`am 6:145 states that only 4 kinds of animal are prohibited: animals that
die of themselves, running blood, pigs and animals dedicated to other
than their Creator. Above this, the eating of clam, shrimp, crab and
mussel is
unlawful according to the Hanifi sect, and lawful for Shafi'i and
Maliki. Interestingly, al-An`am 6:145 does not say that fat of pig is unlawful.
