MARY OF BETHANY

Mary was the sister of Martha and Lazarus of the town of Bethany. They were good friends with Jesus. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead after he had died for a few days and was rotting away. The Bible recorded that Mary anointed Jesus with an alabaster jar of expensive perfume (John 12:1-8). When Judas Iscariot objected to the waste, Jesus replied:

"Leave her alone. [It was intended] that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial." (John 12:7).

Jesus also said: "I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her." (Matthew 26:13).

One would expect that if Islam is the same gospel as Jesus', the story of Mary of Bethany will be told in Islam. However, Islam seems to have no place for her, and the story of her is not told.
