Hiding the miracles

When Mary Magdalene and Mary the Mother of Jesus saw Jesus (pbut) after the alleged crucifixion and resurrection, he was wearing gardener's clothing (John 20:15). What was the significance of Jesus wearing gardener's clothing (as opposed to normal clothing)?

No significance. No reason why he didn't wear other clothing. Plus it was Mary the mother of James (see Luke 24:10).

Was it meant to be a disguise? No.

Why were the women who visited the tomb terrified (Mark 16:8)? Maybe they were startled at seeing the man clothed in the white garment. Wouldn't you be spooked walking into the sepulchre expecting to see a dead guy and then being confronted by a living guy? Terror AND amazement seized them.

If Jesus (pbuh) had indeed foretold of his death and resurrection then should they not be overjoyed to see the alleged confirmation of this prophesy?

If Jesus had foretold? Jesus did tell the disciples of his death and resurrection. "From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and undergo great suffering ... and be killed and on the third day be raised" (Matthew 16:21).

Should they not be overjoyed? I believe they were in terror at the unexpected shock of seeing a living body where they thought they'd find a dead Jesus. Remember, they did not believe what Jesus had told them. But as Mark (16:8), they were amazed also.

Should the two women not have been expecting his resurrection? Should they not have been awaiting it with the utmost anticipation? Yes and yes. BUT they did not believe initially.

If Jesus could conquer death and rise from the dead, why did he fear seeing the Jews after the crucifixion? Mr. Al-Kadhi, where does the scripture say that Jesus feared the Jews? Proof please.

Why disguise himself, hide from the Jews and Romans, and appear only to the disciples? He didn't hide from the Jews and Romans. What's wrong with only appearing to his believers? The Jews and Romans were already given enough proof of his resurrection! Pilate said to make the tomb as secure as possible (Matthew 27:65-66). The Romans even had to invent a lie that Jesus' disciples stole his body (Matthew 28:11- 15).

Why did he not go marching with all of the disciples into the middle of town and shout at the top of his lungs to the Jews: "Here is the verification of my greatest challenge to you, come and see for yourselves"?

Maybe because the Jews would have joined the Ahmadiyya movement and said that Jesus didn't actually die on the cross? (smile)

Why not show himself to those who disbelieved so that they might recognize their error and be saved eternally? Remember what Jesus said in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31). "If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced even if someone rises from the dead". These words of Jesus apply to all muslims past, present, and future.

Muslims pre-occupy themselves with speculating why Jesus did not make a public show of his resurrection.

They should instead focus on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus instead. Their eternal lives depends on their faith in Christ's atonement.
